A Translation of Veniaminov's grammar (Veniaminov, Ivan Popov. Oput grammatikia aleutsko-usevskago azuka. St. Peters burg, 1846.) with English-Aleut and Aleut-English dictionaries. Mr. Geoghegan was officer of the district court in Alaska from 1902 to 1943; he was also an accomplished and well-known linguist. He died before he could publish his Aleutian works, but prior to his death he turned most of his material over to Fredericka Martin, who has edited this volume. Veniaminov's grammar is considered one of the leading works on the Aleutian language and this is probably the only translation into English. For the purposes of the files, however, only general statements have been reproduced and neither the grammatical analysis nor the dictionaries have been included.
