Abstract
The author was Curator of Exhibits, Department of Anthropology of the Chicago Natural History Museum. In this article, he analyses Aleut art on the basis of collections in the Chicago Natural History Museum and the American Museum of Natural History. Subsequent archaeological research has indicated that his assignment of Aleut artifacts to three time periods is incorrect. In processing, the descriptions of specimens have been excerpted but most of the author's interpretations have been excluded. The illustrations were not reproduced nor was the bibliography since all the pertinent sources are include in the HRAF bibliography (use CITATIONS OF DOCUMENTS IN THE HRAF COLLECTION (111) and ADDITIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHY (112).
