Sauer accompanied Billings on his expedition to North America from 1785-1794. While in the Aleutians, they spent most of their time on or near Unalaska. Unless otherwise specified, therefore, Sauer's remarks apply to the Aleuts of Unalaska. Only the material which applies to the Aleuts is included.
