AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This book presents an analytical and objective interpretation of the socio-economic, cultural, and political development of Korean-American history. The document is divided into three parts. Part 1 provides the historical background of Korea and Korean-American relations; part 2 deals with the history of early Korean immigrants and their economic, social, and political activities; and part 3 with the postwar (1945) immigration period including data on specific characteristics and problems of the immigrants. The work concludes with an account of Korean contributions to America and tape recorded interviews with early immigrants regarding their struggles for survival in the United States (p. ix).
