Abstract
Beik presents a detailed analysis of Hausa theater in Niger. Her analysis begins with a history of Hausa theater which originated from traditional Hausa forms and contact with the French colonists. Her analysis is primarily literary, but based on her interviews with members of fourteen theater troupes, much of the information she presents is relevant to group interaction processes. She also comments on the functions of Hausa theater within the broader society.
