Abstract
The nomadic people studied herein have a mostly closed pastoral economy, with only a few items produced to trade for outside goods. Cattle, the main source of capital, are primarily property of the lineage, and are exchanged at birth and marriage, both within and between lineages. Women sell milk to buy millet and men sell cattle to pay taxes.
