Abstract
This work is a detailed study of Iran's history from about the middle of the second millennium B.C. to 1985 A.D. The historical data ranges from Iran's first empire, the Achaemenid Empire in the sixth century B. C through the reign of the shahs Reza Khan and his son Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the Iranian revolution and the rise to power of the religious leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the seizure of the United States' embassy in 1979, and the post-Khomeini period in Iran up to 1985.
