Abstract
In this article, Barghouthi examines the effects the Intifada has had on Palestinian folksongs and the role folksongs have had in the past serving the Palestinian cause and identity. He provides excerpted examples from songs dating from 1929 up to and including the Intifada. The original Arabic text of these examples are included in the appendix. Also included is a glossary of folksong terms.
