Abstract
The major focus of this study is rock art in the forms of paintings and petroglyphs found in southern Africa (primarily in Namibia and the Republic of South Africa. The authors discuss two major 'schools' of art in these specified regions -- the Formal School and the Cape Schematic School -- and how their artistic styles differ from one another. Painted burial stones are also described in the text as well as the pigments used in the paintings. The text is well illustrated.
