This is a study of the impact of European culture on the Shona. The author discusses the affects of acculturation on religion in all of its various manifestations, ethics, traditional material culture, medical practices and health (including information on the medicine man/diviner and the witch/sorcerer), and attitudes toward sex. There is also information on the role of missionaries in this process and rural-urban differences in acceptance of culture change. Two additional chapters provide speculation on future prospects of the Shona, including the continuation of the their faith.
