Extension of conflict as a method of conflict resolution among the Suku of the Congo

Abstract
This paper describes particular methods of resolving conflict among the Suku. Each Suku lineage is responsible for the execution of justice. In most cases, this involves negotiating with other lineages on behalf of individual members to pay or receive compensation involving specific offenses such as property damage, homicide, and sexual violence. If the negotiating lineages fail to agree on a settlement, they agree to bring in a mediating third party, which risks potentially extending the conflict. It is the fear of this risk that motivates the parties to settle their differences.
