Abstract
This document describes the level and pattern of fertility in Turkana and to identify the most important determinants of fertility. It argues that fertility among Turkana women is high, but not remarkably so. With a conservative correction of under-reported of childhood death, nomadic women have an average of 6.6 live births by the end of their reproductive span.
