By: Evans-Pritchard, E. E. (Edward Evan).

Abstract
This is an account of Shilluk kingship with particular emphasis on structural and ritual aspets. Although the author, a social anthropologist, has done fieldwork in the Sudan he has had only limited first hand contact with the Shilluk. The study is based on secondary materials. Comments on earlier interpretations of Shilluk kingship and a general theory of divine kingship are presented. A bibliography is included.
