Abstract
The major theme of this work is the rise of the Bida Emirate from the eighteenth to the early twentieth centuries. The author covers a wide range of historical and political history, fully documented at the end of each chapter with commentary and numerous bibliographical citations. A large portion of this document deals with the relationship between the Nupe state and European governments (primarily English and French), with emphasis on trade and warfare.
