Abstract
This source is a description of the anomalous situation of double descent among the Igbo of Afikpo village-group. It contains descriptions of patrilineages, matrilineages and matriclans, the descent groups within the larger structure of the village and the village group, double descent and the individual, and double descent groups as entities. The data were gathered on two field trips and research was conducted apparently through participant observation and interviewing.
