Abstract
This is a useful cultural summary of the Akan-speaking peoples of the Gold Coast, particularly the Ashanti and Fanti. There is no indication of original research by the author and the data were derived mainly from the works of Rattray, Danquah, Busia, and Fortes. Major topics covered include demography, history, language, geography, material culture, social organization, political structure, land tenure, life cycle, and religious beliefs and cults.
