Abstract
This is '…a study of certain aspects of child behavior, socialization, and enculturation among the Kpelle…' (p. 1) which focusses on how traditional Kpelle socialization is related to the poor performance of Kpelle children in Western-style schools. Most of the data presented is on child behavior. The author concludes '…that the early learning environment is constrained by, and adapted to, ecology and economy…' (p. 195).
