Abstract
This discusses dynamics of co-wife relations among polygamous Mande households. It argues that co-wife relations are characterized by apparent congeniality and equality mostly created by legal and economic necessities. When examined closely, however, they are fraught with inequality and suppressed tensions particularly over children's education which can erupt in pitched battles or witchcraft accusations.
