Abstract
This document is the final volume of Columellas Res Rustica (the earlier portions of which are included in Columella (1960) and Columella (1976)). It contains Books X-XII, plus the text of what is thought to be an earlier book, On Trees, most of whose information was later incorporated into and expended in Books III, IV, and V (in 6: and 7: Columella). Book X is a long poem in hexameter dealing with gardening. Book XI covers the duties of a bailiff (overseer), the times of year for different jobs, and gardens and herbs. Book XII covers the duties of the bailiffs wife, household chores, preserving food (pickling, drying, salting, etc.) preserving and strengthening wine, olives and olive oil, and other oils. 'On Trees' covers land, vines, bushes, vineyards, olive trees, orchards, fig trees, nut trees, fruit trees, grafting, and flowers.
