Journal of modern Greek studies6 (2)Published In 1988 • Pages: 187-215

By: Sutton, Susan Buck.

AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This essay, which emphasizes internal migration patterns within Greece, first establishes what is know about rural Greek demographic history over the last few centuries -- mid sixteenth century to the 1980s -- and then explores the implications of this account for understanding Greek village life. Sutton examines four areas in detail: the Achaia Nemea Valley, Amorgos, Kea, and the southern Argolid.
