Abstract
This is a study of traditional Greek values which provide a social stage within a moral order that emphasizes the sanctity of the family and the notion of honor (TIMI) of its members. Although much of this document centers around the concept of family honor, some of the other major values described in the text are: the honorable settlement of children in marriage including the establishment of an appropriate dowry for one's daughters; the encouragement of sons to obtain an education; the development of intense attitudes of self-regard and self-assertion; and the establishement of friendships and patron-client relationships, often as a means of furthering one's own personal goals.
