Specific themes include geography, climate, history, fauna, settlements, names and naming, temperament, work ethic, encounters with British officials, dress, houses, diet, hospitality, trade, agriculture, canoes and canoe racing, dancing, childbirth, child care, spirits, "witch doctors," sickness, the "harvest festival" and annual trading excursion to Chowra Island, "devil murderers," funerals, "ossuary feasts," language, and folk tales.
