As with other documents in this series dealing with socio-economic studies in south Indian villages, this work deals specifically with Palakkurichi, a Tamil village in Tanjore District, India, from approximately 1900 to 1937. The data presented here deal with demography, land use, land tenure, agriculture, animal husbandry, taxation, castes, income and production, education, and socio-political organization of the village.
