AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This is a socio-economic study of the village of Vadamalaipuram, situated on the banks of the River Arjuna - a tributary of the Vaippar. Thirumalai compares conditions as they existed in 1916-1917 when the original survey of the village was made to that of 1936-1937 when a resurvey took place. Major ethnographic topics discussed in this work are demography, land use, land tenure, tenancy, agriculture, animal husbandry, family income, standards of living, education, and the co-operative credit society.
