AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This source provides a thoroughly detailed survey of the history of electric power development in Madras (Tamil Nadu) and the increasing uses and benefits of electricity in this century. Among the author's major subjects are: cost and operation of electricity projects, state revenues deriving from same, industrial development, electric power in irrigation, and the role of the State Electricity Board. An extensive cost-benefit analysis of electric power supports the author's conclusions on the utility's positive effects.
