Abstract
This article examines the predicament of gender in a Kashmiri student movement. Men are overly protective of women and keep them from joining the front ranks of the movement. Also, state security forces exploit the Kashmiri honor system by targeting women, further diminishing women's roles and voices in the movement. The author discusses alternative paths women have taken to be politically engaged.
