This article deals exclusively with Khasi kin groupings, i.e., clan (sib), sub-clan, family, household, etc., and some mention is made of the possible effects of modern conditions on family life. Mukherjee gives a fairly clear breakdown of these groupings and their function, as well as native terms. At the time of publication the author was a member of the Department of Anthropology of the Indian Government.
