Abstract
This article is an overview of Garo folk literature including prose, poetry, and other verbal arts. Origin myths and legends of migration are recounted in prose form. Poetic forms are used in epic narrations, ceremonial rites, and stories concerning the origins of living and non-living things. Other verbal arts include proverbs, riddles, and 'couple words.'
