Abstract
This book focuses is on the organization of rice cultivation, religious practices, resource exchange, and community life. Much of the discussion is devoted to showing the centrality of swidden cultivation, with plots shifting every twelve to fifteen years, influencing not just annual calendar of communal religious activities, but also the intensity of labor exchange and other aspects of social relations among individuals, households, extended families and village communities.
