Abstract
This study of the Annamese family prior to French occupation is based largely on ancient Chinese moral writings and the various Annamese law codes. It contains information on customs and laws relating to the family and discussions of philosophy, morals and ethics. Conjectural theories concerning the origin of certain institutions are offered.
