This source deals with the [n]Tsu[/n] organization of Chinese society. The various functions of the [n]Tsu[/n] as an instrument of social control, as a land holding unit, and as an integrating factor are considered. The [n]Tsu[/n] is the unit responsible for the super-familial ancestor rites. An extensive appendix consisting of extracts from genealogies and informant material is included.
