Abstract
The effect of the proliferation of political factions in the village of Hsin Hsing is the subject of this article. Gallin found that traditional organizations, specifically the village and the lineage (TSU), and traditional social behavior and relationships have been rather profoundly altered as a result of the presence of political factions.
