Abstract
This dissertation addresses the question of whether Taiwanese agriculture can maintain sustained growth as the society moves towards industrialization. Focusing on the pseudonymous village of 'San-lin' in the Tai-chung region of Tai-Chung HSIEN, Huang examines the efects of industrialization on regionalism, farm management, social interaction, and the supply, efficiency and intensity of farm labor, and concludes that industrialization has led to a rapid decline in agricultural productivity and the stagnation of the Taiwanese economy.
