Abstract
This dissertation is a study in spatial analysis. In discussing and describing the desirability and utilities of employing central-place theory in anthropological regional analysis, Crissman reviews and criticizes: 1) classical central-place models, and 2) the literature on marketing and settlement patterns of mainland China. Crissman examines the fit of thse materials with Taiwanese data he has accumulated, and offers explanation of differences with diachronic models of his own.
