AncestorsThe HaguePublished In 1976 • Pages: 329-338

By: Li, Yih-yuan.

AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
In this essay, Li argues that Chinese ancestor cults do not render the ancestors, as former dominators of the worshipers, passive. Rather, Li asserts, the supposed satisfactions and dissatisfactions are keenly felt, and reflect domestic conditions among the living.
