Summary: Percival Robson Kirby was a Scottish-born South African ethnomusicologist, musicologist, historian, and professor. He is best known for his work on the study and preservation of southern African indigenous music, particularly his pioneering text The Musical Instruments of the Native Races of South Africa (1934). Kirby played a significant role in documenting and preserving African musical traditions during his tenure as Professor of Music at the University of the Witwatersrand. Wikipedia
