Why am I getting a login prompt?

Access to eHRAF World Cultures is granted via authentication through a HRAF member institution such as your university library, research institute, academic department, or museum. In some cases, including temporary remote access, trials, or course membership, you may have been issued a HRAF username and password. This page will not accept your personal university library credentials or academic logins.

You are most likely seeing this page because:

  • You do not belong to a HRAF member institution with paid access to eHRAF. See below.
  •  
  • You are attempting to access eHRAF from an off-campus location.Refer to your institution's guidelines for accessing resources from off campus.
  •  
  • You have not correctly authenticated via your institution or library portal.Contact your librarian (or instructor, for course members) for further assistance.
  •  
  • Your HRAF-issued username and password credentials have been entered incorrectly or have expired.Contact hraf-support@yale.edu for assistance.

Is my institution a member?

Check this page to determine if your university or institution is currently a member of eHRAF World Cultures. If your institution's name appears in the list, please authenticate via your library to obtain full access to eHRAF. See above.

For further assistance with authentication issues, your librarian may contact us at hraf-support@yale.edu with an updated list of IP ranges.

Please note that users from current member institutions will not be granted a HRAF username and password or trial credentials in order to bypass this paywall.
