AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
A comprehensive account of Xavante culture and society, this book describes the structure and organization of several communities, during times scarcity when they went on extended treks seeking wild foods, and during times of plenty when they assembled for extensive ceremonies. Two or more factions competed for political dominance at each level of social organization: village, age-set, clan, and lineage.
