By: Karsten, Rafael.

AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
Karsten spent three full years among the Jivaro (between 1917 and 1928) and almost a complete summary of all he has published on the Jivaro to date is contained in this monograph He learned the native language passingly well according to his own statement and became quite intimate with many of the Indians He is very careful about including many details which other ethnographers have sometimes missed On the whole a very competent and thorough piece oc work … by far the best work on the Jivaro.
