Drylongso: a self-portrait of Black America

Abstract
This book is a 'self-portrait' of American Black culture, consisting of narratives of ordinary, or 'drylongso,' Black people. The fieldwork was conducted in the early 1970's in a number of cities in the Northeast. The theme of the interviews seems to have been attitudes toward Whites. HRAF analysis of personal narratives interferes with their continuity and thus with their personal quality. Researchers are advised to read this book in its entirety to achieve that continuity and personal quality.
