Abstract
This is an ethnography on material culture, religious activities, and political structure. Social organization is not discussed in detail. Becher provides the native terms for most culture elements under description. When discussing individual culture elements Becher points out their distribution in other parts of South America, and gives his own as well as other anthropologists' theories on the origin and migration of the particular element. Becher learned the languages of these two Yanoama tribes and he held a most sympathetic attitude toward the Indians and was fully accepted by them.
