The total range of time coverage in this study is from the seventeenth century up to about 1974, with a major focus on the period of the 1930s to 1974, and an ethnographic focus on the Shipibo-Conibo populations living along the Ucayali River area in Peru. Topics covered in this work deal with: subsistence patterns; the economy; arts, dress, and recreation; political and social organization; religion; medicine; and the life cycle.
