AbstractBrief abstract written by HRAF anthropologists who have done the subject indexing for the document
This is a compilation of offenses against the Yakut person and his or her property that are punishable by the society and the sanctions imposed on the offender. This is not a primary source; it appears to be excerpted from legal documents and possibly from the works of others. Samokvasov discusses the form of government of the Yakut, the structure of their society, their legal procedure, and judicial authority. Some information is given also on shamanism, sacrificial offerings, and the regulation of marriage.
