Abstract
This is a study of Quiché ethnomedicine. The Quiche see the world, including human physiology, in terms of hot and cold. Good health requires balancing the two, and illness is diagnosed in terms of a preponderance of one or the other. "Hot" and "cold" foods are used to maintain health and in medical treatments.
