Abstract
The prehistory and history of the Zapotec people is the subject of this document. The time period covered is from 1500 BC to the present. The author discusses the documents of his information, such as archaeological sites, codices, and early Spanish documents, then reconstructs the economy and the social and political organization of the various periods. The final chapter is a summary of contemporary Zapotec culture.
