Abstract
This general ethnographic study of the Tarascan community of Cherán provides detailed information on material culture, economy, community organization, religion, the fiesta system, and the life cycle of individuals. Two appendices offer comparative material on foodstuffs and ceremonial organization in predominantly mestizo communities; a third is a botanical analysis of maize from Cherán.
