Abstract
This study, based on questionnaires, interviews and participant observation, examines the processes of individual and community development in a Mormon village for how the lessons learned might be applied to strengthening and revitalizing the community development movement in India. After a brief description of the community, topics covered include: individual development and education in childhood and adolescence in church and school; social participation for individual development; leadership and community development; value-orientation; motivation and participation; and community cohesion. A summary of the findings is provided. Overall, this document is most notable for its descriptions of the structure of socialization and of the creation and maintenance of social cohesion in the village.
