Abstract
This article discusses traditional Ute beliefs relating to water, land and other aspects of nature including wind, mountains, plants and wildlife. It shows that Ute ideology about the environment is in congruity with their religion which attributes nature with supernatural powers which could be acquired by religious practioners.
