Abstract
In this article Schwartz presents a comprehensive but brief culture summary of the Havasupai from approximately 1776 to 1983. Information is presented on the territory and environment, external relations, history, subsistence, social and political organization, house types, clothing and adornment, technology, property, life cycle events, shamanism and curing, and the sociocultural situation as it existed in the post-1960 period. The paper concludes with a synonymy prepared by Ives Goddard which incorporates some references supplied by Douglas W. Schwartz.
