Abstract
This source contains images of 185 paintings by native Hopi artists. All of these artworks were commissioned for this collection, and are permanently exhibited at the Museum of the American Indian in New York. Topics include: the life cycle; ritual life, including several important ceremonies and the Kachina cult; clowns and clowning; curing; and economic life, including farming, hunting and basketmaking. Biographical sketches of the artists are also provided. Each of the images (pp. 85-190) is described in the first half of the source (pp. 9-69).
